Mary Belton

With 30 years of early childhood, preschool and kindergarten teaching experience, a degree in elementary education and an early childhood certification, I must say that the last 13 years of being a parent has given me the most insight and knowledge into the world of children and families!

Prior to moving to Austin, I taught at San Francisco’s nationally acclaimed relationship based inclusive preschool, The Little School, for 5 years before our son was born.

After relocating to Austin 12 years ago, I was inspired to start Bloom Preschool to serve families who are looking for a more personal type of education through play, that focuses on the creativity, self expression, and unique learning style of each child.

Some things that feed my soul are music, art, imagination, play, being outdoors, and spending time with my family. I like to have music of all kinds playing throughout my day. I love to dance & be silly. I play the ukulele & love making songs up with our Bloomies! I love to bake and make things from scratch from food to play-dough to goop and more! I love storytelling and writing stories with children. These all become part of our days & our experience in the classroom.

I believe learning through play and having fun, while exploring the worlds we are interested in, offers so much to a little growing person. I feel incredibly lucky to be a little part of the process of supporting children as they bloom and grow!

I love this exciting time watching children bloom together in our fun preschool environment!
